About BICC

The Building Inclusive Child Care program was a two-year project that provided special training and mentoring to child care programs in Northampton, Monroe and Pike counties from 2002 to 2004. This Northampton Community College initiative was funded by the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.

This website was created as a part of the Building Inclusive Child Care (BICC) project. Although we are no longer able to provide direct services to child care programs, we hope that this website will continue to be a resource that fosters and promotes the inclusion of children with developmental disabilities in child care programs.

Interaction amongst parents, aides and instructors helps to build a solid foundation for each child’s education.

“Deven has the same opportunities to learn as all of the other children in the class,” says Paula. “The center bought Braille books and a Braille labeler, and they are open to having Deven’s therapist come in to work with him in class.”
